A six-game winning streak has vaulted the Detroit Tigers to top spot in the TSN.ca MLB Power Rankings, ahead of the Oakland As ad Milwaukee Brewers. After opening the season 11-10, the San Francisco Giants have gone 10-1 and that surge coincides with their move from 13 to four this week. A stellar bullpen has kept the Washington Nationals afloat and they rise from 15 to eight, while the Minnesota Twins go from 18 to 12, surprisingly competitive to this point in the season. 8-2 in the past 10 games, and with starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma back from the DL, the Seattle Mariners climb from 27 to 16. Heading in the other direction, the Atlanta Braves lost seven straight and went from top spot to six. Three wins in the past 10 games drops the Texas Rangers from three to 13, and dropping five of six leaves the New York Yankees at 15, from seven. Outscored by 24 runs during a five-game losing streak, the Kansas City Royals crash from eight to 19, while the Chicago White Sox sink from nine to 24 due to a bad run of injuries. The Toronto Blue Jays, with a suddenly porous bullpen, slide from 17 to 21 this week. "You dont get many chances against him, and when you do, hes got so many pitches that hes able to throw that you cant just sit on something." Joba Chamberlain struck out two in the eighth, and Joe Nathan fanned two in a perfect ninth for his 18th save in 23 chances. Greinke (11-5) allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings. He struck out eight without a walk. "You look at their lineup today, and you think you are getting a break with Cabrera and Victor being out," Greinke said. "But they were putting up great at-bats all day. I was throwing good pitches." Miguel Rojas of the Dodgers hit his first career homer in the fifth. Cabrera was given a day off by Detroit manager Brad Ausmus, and Martinez is dealing with a lingering back issue. The Tigers won without them. Kinsler advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out single by Don Kelly. Greinke was sharp after that. Detroit scored again in the fourth on an RBI single by Nick Castellanos, but the Los Angeles right-hander retired the last nine hitters he faced, striking out the final four.
